Connecting to the Hosting Server with CuteFTP (PC)
There are numerous FTP clients for PC systems (FTPExpert, WS FTP, etc.). We will use CuteFTP for our tutorial, which is probably
the most well known FTP client in use on PCs. You can download it from its editor's site:
GlobalScape.
Macintosh. On Macintosh, we will use Fetch. Its use is described later in this tutorial.
Once installed, CuteFTP is very simple to use. Just follow the guide:
- Start the program. The user interface appears as shown here:

- Click on the Quick Connect button, the second one on the lefthand side.

A new toolbar appears. This one is for receiving your connection information.

- In the User Name and Password fields, specify the user id and password information communicated by your Web hosting provider.

- Click on the Connect button (denoted by a blitz) to start the connection to your Web hosting space.

When the connection between your machine and the remote server is established, a welcoming dialog box appears. Close it by
clicking the OK button. The middle of the CuteFTP interface is now divided in two parts:
- The lefthand side displays your hard drive's content.

- The righthand side shows your Web hosting space.

Now the goal is to transfer the whole bunch of files which make up your site from the left to the righthand pane. An even
easier process!
