Creating Images

Wap Pictus enables you to quickly create illustrations for your WAP sites. To create images in WBMP format, it is essential that you have an image to start with, preferably in GIF format.

We will start with this image of a cow and place it in a mobile phone:

Start Wap Pictus and follow us step by step. The conversion process is very simple.

  1. Open your image in Wap Pictus.

  2. It appears in greyscale in the centre of the window.

  3. Select Zoom > Resize > Set Width and assign a value of 100 pixels to the image width.

  4. If the height is greater than the width, select Set Height and assign a value of 100 pixels. Wap Pictus will keep the image proportions whatever happens.

  5. Select Settings > Advanced settings, then the option that best suits the conversion into black and white.

  6. In our case, we have chosen the Floyd Steinberg option that prevents us from losing the cow outline.

  7. Click on the To mono button on the icon bar to convert the image into black and white.

  8. Select File > Save as to save our image in WBMP format.

  9. Wap Pictus automatically creates a copy of the image in PNG format. This allows you to touch up the image as desired once it has been created.

Your image has now been converted into the appropriate format. You just need to embed it in the desired WML deck.

Size. Since the size of the screens on WAP mobile devices is very limited, you should try not to exceed 100 pixels for the widths and heights of your images.
