Purchasing a Domain Name
Actually, we should not speak of purchasing, but rather of renting a domain name. Indeed, to acquire one, you have to pay
a flat rate, which is renewable every year. If you then decide that your domain name no longer interests you, all you have
to do is not pay the annual invoice and the name will again become available for purchase by someone else.
The registering procedure does not present any problems. You first indicate the domain name (together with the TLD) you wish
to use and your provider will then inform you whether it is still available or whether you have to choose another one.
The next step is to register it with an accredited name reservation service called a
registrar. You will then be assigned a unique identifier to use while filling in all the necessary forms. Once your details have been
validated, all you need to do is pay the registration cost, at least for the first year, if possible via credit card and online,
in order to speed up the registration process. Expect a 24- to 72-hour delay before your address can be accessed from anywhere
in the world.
