Encoding an AIFF File on a Macintosh

Your software is now ready for action. From now on, all the encoding operations will be handled through the Drag & Drop method towards the alias you have just created:

  1. Select the AIFF file to be encoded and drag it onto the N2MP3 Encoder alias.

  2. The dashboard for optional settings appears.

  3. Select Encoder: Better Quality (preferable to Faster).

  4. The difference in the result can really be seen.

  5. Locate your MP3 player on your hard drive, using the Default Player sub-menu and the Select button.

  6. For a faster procedure. Avoid keeping the Play While Encoding Audio option activated as it slows down the procedure.

  7. Click on Continue

Your file will be available in the chosen location, on the Desktop or in a folder on your hard disk. The encoding duration depends on your quality settings and the length of the audio file.

Once the recording is complete, you can listen to the result by opening the file from Audion or by double-clicking on it.

A matter of quality. The factory settings of N2MP3 target the quality and compressed size usually found on the Web. The 128 Kbps value is an excellent compromise: it guarantees a compression of around 1:11. For a lower quality replay, choose a lower value (starting with 112 Kbps). If you want a higher quality for archiving purposes, or if you encode classical or jazz music, which are more demanding in terms of performance, you should choose a higher value (starting with 160 Kbps).
