Creating Sound Buttons

Sound buttons allow you to associate a sound to the click of a button. To achieve this type of effect, all you need is a sound file in wav format and a button created with Flash.

Once you have these components, proceed as follows:

  1. Select File > Import, and choose the sound file to import into your animation.

  2. Select the button to which you want to add sound.

  3. Select Edit > Edit Selected. The four boxes that show up in the timeline correspond to the four possible button states:

  4. - Up: The button is inactive.

    - Over: The mouse cursor is placed over the button .

    - Down: The mouse button is being held down.

    - Hit: Corresponds to the button area that reacts to the mouse clicks.

  5. Double-click the Hit area, then select the Sound tab in the dialog box that appears.

  6. Choose the sound to use in the Sound drop-down menu, then validate with the OK button.

The sound is now associated to the button and each click will trigger the sound playback.
