Changing Parts of Albert

The only problem with the previous step is that Albert's beak took on the same colour as his feathers. To prevent this from happening, the beak outline must also be closed.

Seal off the leak. Imagine that the lines of your drawing are the shape of a sand-castle and that the fill tool is a watering can. When you pour water onto your castle, it flows through all the openings to fill the rooms.

In our example, the body colour reached the beak through the opening at the bottom..

Proceed as follows to solve this problem:

  1. Zoom in on this area using the Magnifier tool. Keep clicking until you reach the required size.

  2. Figure 6: Use the Magnifier tool to zoom in on a particular area.

  3. Next, click on the Arrow tool and drag it on the edge of the line to be edited. An angle appears under the cursor.

  4. Figure 7: The cursor as it is shown when you can edit a line.

  5. Click on the line and while keeping the button pressed, move the mouse to join the two lines.

The beak's outline is now closed. You can now apply any colour you like using the same procedure as the one we used before to paint the body.

Additional techniques. The following sections introduce some techniques that will not be used to create our movie but will give you an insight into other drawing techniques, not needed to complete the Jojo & Albert project.
