Why Do You Need Several Scenes?

You have just finished a great ten-minute cartoon with numerous objects, buttons and figures, which you are really proud of. Suddenly, you realise that you forgot to include a very important element. Then begins the tedious process of hunting for the image you need.

It is precisely to avoid this kind of annoyance that Flash offers you the possibility of creating several different scenes. What exactly is a scene? You could say that it is an animation within another animation.

Scenes are useful in several respects:

  • They enable you to break down a long movie into several shorter and more manageable sequences.

  • Scenes also permit you to store the various parts of a movie in different locations. So if you give the user the option of choosing the next sequence to be played back, each sequence can be stored in a separate scene.

Stop! By default, the scenes of a movie automatically follow one after the other. If you don't want to link them together, place a Stop action at the end of the first scene.

The Jojo & Albert movie is made up of three scenes. The first scene covers the period during which our two characters meet, the second one contains the savage fight between our two creatures, and the last one ends with Jojo's victory.
