Colour Print Dithering

It is also possible to create text with colour dithering with the filter you have just used. To do so:

  1. Create a new document (File > New) measuring around 500 pixels wide by 150 pixels high.

  2. This time select the RGB colour mode.

  3. Click on the foreground colour box in the tools palette and select a colour.

  4. Avoid pure colours (red, green ...), and opt for a colour such as mauve, brown, etc.

Valid values ... You can obtain some interesting effects by entering values of around 50% in one or more of the C, M or Y fields, at the bottom right of the colour picker.

  5. Create your text in the image.

  6. Once again, use a fairly large, bold font.

  7. Select Filter > Pixelate > Colour halftone.

  8. In the filter dialog box, click on the Default button and enter 4 in the Max radius field.

  9. Click on OK to apply the filter.

Variations.

  • Try entering 8 or another value, instead of 4, in the Max radius field in the filter dialog box.

  • Before step 4, select the command Layer > Flatten image (see figure below).
