Variations

Instead of using the default Lighting effects filter, you can modify the Lighting effects dialog box settings to obtain a more or less endless range of variations. Here are just a few suggestions:

  • Modify the Emboss setting to obtain a more or a less pronounced 3D effect

  • Deselect the White = high option to invert the look of the button, so that it appears to be embossed instead of sunken-in.

  • Change the ambiance and lighting colours by clicking on the two dialog box colour squares.

  • Create a strong or a weak reflection effect by changing the Brilliance setting.

  • Use a pattern for the background. Fill the background with the desired pattern before opening the Lighting effects dialog box.

  • Use a colour other than black for the text.

Superimposing of light effects. If you try out several different lighting effects one after the other, don't forget to fill the Background with White (or a different colour or pattern) before opening the Lighting effects dialog box, otherwise the new lighting effects will be added to the existing ones.
