An Image Made of Granite!

Creating a stone texture is even easier. A series of clouds and a little enhancement are more than enough to give the impression that your screen is made of granite!

Start by creating a new image and colour it black. The next step is to apply the filters:

  1. Select Filter > Render > Clouds.

  2. Select Filter > Render > Difference Clouds.

  3. You will obtain a softer surface if you only use the Clouds filter. By adding the Difference Clouds filter, you can include some uneven cracks and edges on the surface of the stone.

  4. Select Filter > Stylize > Emboss.

  5. Adjust the settings for this filter until you obtain the stone texture you are looking for.

  6. In this case we have used an angle value of 135 and a height of 3.

Clouds with sharper contrasts. You can obtain a cloud texture with sharper contrasts by holding the Shift key down while you select the Clouds filter.
