Adding Colour

An additional colouring stage will be necessary if you prefer to give your text a gold-like effect rather than a chrome effect:

  1. Select Image > Adjust > Hue/Saturation.

  2. Check the option Colorize: the text colour changes instantly.

  3. Drag the Hue and Saturation cursers to obtain the desired shade, then click on OK.

Figure 8: The Hue/Saturation dialog box.

And there you go, you now have your gilded chrome effect. Place it on a rounded button to make it stand out even more.

Figure 9: Really luxurious buttons thanks to the chrome effect.

Oh, a surprise! And now for the cherry on the cake. We are offering you the chance to download the script that will allow you to automatically create a gilded chrome effect from any RGB document containing a type layer and a background.

To use the script, you have to save it on your computer and then select Load scripts in Photoshop's Script's palette.

This script is compatible with the Windows versions of Photoshop versions 5.0 and 5.5.
