Positioning Text

Now insert the text in the new file:

  1. Click on the Type tool.

  2. Click anywhere on the image.

  3. Type in the longest word from the list of words for your new buttons in the appropriate field in the type dialog box.

  4. Highlight the text and assign it a font, style, colour and size.

  5. The right font. Sans serif fonts (Arial, Helvetica) are easier to read on a computer screen than serif fonts (Times). So it is best to go for sans serif fonts.

  6. Click on the appropriate icon to centre your text on the button, or choose another alignment.

  7. Figure 2: The three text alignment options.

  8. Without closing the dialog box, position the text directly in the image window by dragging it there. Then fine-tune the settings (size, font, etc.) if necessary.

  9. Figure 3: The text is now correctly positioned and the right size.

  10. Once the text is in place, click on OK. The hardest part is over.
