Saving Files For the Web

One outstanding new feature in Photoshop version 6.0 is the Save for Web format. This function allows you to select all the various image saving options (format, compression, transparency, etc.) in a single dialog box and to display the original image side-by-side with the optimized image for the Web.

This dialog box also has another function: it displays the size of the output file and the estimated download time, two essential details for creating Web images.
