The Type Tool

It is common to use images containing text on Web pages: navigation buttons are a typical example.

Photoshop's Type tool is the ideal tool for creating this type of image. The Type dialog box allows you to define the font, the size, the colour and other parameters of the text.

The text you create is placed on a separate layer that is easily accessible from the Layers palette. This allows you to instantly modify the text and its parameters as you wish at any time. You can apply special effects (embossed, drop shadows) with just a few mouse clicks.
