Digital photography : How does a digital camera operate?
Bernard Jolivalt
In a traditional camera, the light that passes through the lens records an image on the film which is composed of several
layers of chemical products (three layers sensitive to red, green and blue respectively, and for color negative film, an orange
protective layer). In a digital camera, the light strikes an electronic sensor. The phenomenon produced is no longer chemical,
but rather electronic.
