A Drop Shadow

To add a shadow to the car:

  1. Select the car again using the Freehand tool.

  2. Select Image > Effects > Drop Shadow.



  3. Figure 6: The drop shadow settings are defined here.

  4. Select Black in the Colours pull-down list in the Attributes area.

  5. Drag the thumbnail image so that you get a good view of the area where the drop shadow will appear. Click on the zoom "out" button to view a larger area.

  6. Adjust the direction of the shadow with the help of the horizontal and vertical Offset cursors.

  7. Try to be realistic Try using existing shadows to obtain one that blends in well with the setting.

  8. Proceed with the other drop shadow settings:

  9. - Opacity adjusts the density of the shadow.

    - Blur sets the sharpness of the edge.

  10. Click on OK when you have finished your adjustments.

  11. The shadow is projected onto the image as if the latter were a vertical backdrop.

A few tries? If you don't like the shadow end result, click on the Undo button and start again.
