Defining the Outline of the Car

We are going to use the Freehand tool in Point-to-Point mode as the edges of the car cannot be clearly separated from the background. After we have opened the image in Paint Shop Pro:

  1. Blow up the object using the Zoom tool so you can work with a greater accuracy.

  2. Click on the Freehand tool, then on Toggle Tool Options Window. Scroll down the Freehand list and select the Point-to-Point type.

  3. Figure 2: Choose a Point-to-Point selection.

  4. Draw the outline with a number of successive clicks, as shown in Figure 3. Nice curves can be obtained by keeping the points close to each other.

  5. Work slowly, as you will have to start from scratch if you make a mistake.

Figure 3: Draw the object outline accurately.

  6. When the outline is finished, double-click on the starting point to close the line and quit the Freehand tool.

Figure 4: The car has been completely highlighted.
