Paint Shop Pro : Creating background images
Bernard Jolivalt
Seamless Patterns
There is a good chance that the repetition of the background image will be visible in the browser, mainly due to breaks in
the pattern. Proceed as follows to ensure that these breaks merge together perfectly. First and foremost, make sure that your
image is displayed in 16.7 million colours, then:
- Select the Selection tool. If your texture is square, select the Square selection option.

- Draw a selection around 15 pixels from the edges of the image.

- Choose Selection > Convert to Seamless Pattern.

Paint Shop Pro will warn you if your selection is too close to the edge of the image. In this case, start again from scratch.
Paint Shop Pro recalculates and recolourizes the pixels between the edge of the image and the selection rectangle, so that
the facing edges become identical. The final result appears in a new image. You can test this texture in your browser, it
is perfectly regular and contiguous.
