Adjusting the Light Effect

Now all we have to do is apply our light effect to the Rays layer in order to make the doves appear:

1. Make sure that the Rays layer is still active: its name should appear in the montage title bar.
   
   
2. Select Layers > Properties so as to display the Rays layer properties.
   
   
3. Check the Autoproof box.
   
   
In this way, the settings will be applied to the montage in real time.


4. Select the Colour option in the Blend Mode list.
   
   
The doves reappear with the reflections of light on their plumage. Note the effect of the red ray.

The density of the reflections can be adjusted by increasing the transparency of the Rays layer. To do this, click on Opacity and reduce its value. The effect will depend on the luminosity of the main subject to a large extent - in this case, the doves. To increase the luminosity in certain areas, select the Doves layer and use the Retouch tool in lightness up mode (Retouch > Retouch Mode > Lightness Up).
