Setting Up the Brush

The Clone Brush tool is used to reproduce parts of an image. To use this tool, you must first of all define the diameter (this will depend on the extent of the areas to be moved) as well as the place where the pixels will be taken from. Then all you have to do is draw in the areas to be covered up. And now it's time to put this into practice:

  1. Click on the Clone Brush tool.

  2. Click on the Toggle Control Palettebutton:

  3. - Give the brush a Size of 10 pixels, corresponding approximately to the width of the post.

    - Leave Opacity at 100.

    - Set Hardness to 100 (so that we avoid a gradation effect when we use the brush).

Aligned Versus Non-Aligned Mode. Check the Aligned option for the Clone mode on the Tool Controls tab.

When the Clone Brush tool is in Aligned mode, the sample reticule moves along with the brush. This option is perfect for copying a gradation, for instance (taking care to sample and paste using the same hue levels). In Non-Aligned mode, the reading reticule does not move. Use this option if the surface to be copied is uniform.
