Design : How to use frames properly
Lynda Weinman
Summary
Most of the problems arising from the use of frames have been solved by recent browsers. It is up to the designer to avoid
pitfalls:
- Use frames when you want to offer a consistent navigation system for the entire site. With frames, you can create a steady
navigation system while changing the contents of the other frames.

- If possible, hide the frame borders. A browser window is never very big and frame borders reduce the space devoted to the
content.

- You can create interesting effects by combining frames and background patterns. By using absolute dimensions in pixels together
with asterisks, you can fix the size of a part of the screen while adapting the other part to the size of the browser window.
